My Life In Neon

Past talks include:

  • SAFE Space Training: An interactive training session focused on training people to be effective allies to LGBTQQIAA/GSMP (Gender and Sexual Marginalized People) people who are able to provide a safe environment for those who need it.
  • Transgender 101: covers terminology, concepts, medical and social steps in transition, and insights into the current community and how it differs from the previous decade. This is primarily targeted at GSAs and classes.
  • Coming Out In The Workplace: when a coworker comes out, it can change the dynamic of an entire department. This presentation covers similar material to the above, plus practical considerations for companies: updating identifying documents (from passports all the way down to security badges), insurance facts vs fiction, handling “oops” moments, restroom use, customer concerns.
  • How Did An Issue of Defying Gender Expectations Become About Sexuality? (Presented at MBLGTACC 2012) A tongue-in-cheek rebuttal to “Why are trans people and gay people together?”. This interactive workshop focuses on the history of the LGBTQQIAA/GSMP (Gender and Sexual Marginalized People) movements, and how individual expression of queer people has been shaped by gender expectations.
